Weston Jr. High Wolves Win First Baseball Game of Season
The Weston Jr. High Wolves played their first baseball game Thursday, October 14th at Downsville against the Quitman Wolverines. Weston remained scoreless in the first inning with Quitman scoring one. John David Maxwell was the starting pitcher for the Wolves. He came out strong the second inning with three strike-outs. The Wolves scored eight in the bottom of the second inning led by Jason Evans’ triple to center field and Lane Hartley’s single to left. Tanner Buckelew also had a RBI. Five batters reached base on walks and one was hit by a pitch. After two innings the score was Weston-8 and Quitman-2. John David Maxwell hit a triple to right field in the top of the third scoring Tanner Buckelew who had reached base on a walk. Maxwell and Garrett Osbon later scored on a hit to right field by Kolby Walker. Jason Evans came in during the third inning to pitch for Weston. He had two strike-outs this inning. Quitman managed to score four runs in the third led by the hitting of Peyton Bond and Garret Granger. The Wolves scored four more runs in the fourth with Jason Evans leading off with another triple to right-center field. He was followed by singles from Shane Tolar, Eric Tolar, and John David Maxwell. Evans finished the ballgame with three strike-outs in the fourth. The final score was Weston-15 and Quitman-6. |
